HBGDki Policy, Delivery, and Implementation surge team lead Matt Hutmacher died suddenly on May 3, 2017 at the age of 47 years. Matt touched many lives through his intelligence and kindness. Shasha sent this message to the ki data science team:

“It is with a deep sadness and disbelief that I must share with you that Matt Hutmacher passed away at his office on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017. Matt was one of the finest biostatisticians/pharmacometricians of our generation, a long-time colleague, one of the original HBGDki members that helped architect our shared project, and an even better person. His passing is still difficult to contemplate and has forced me to take a very long look at what matters in my own life, what matters in our work together, what matters about where we are going (and how) as a team, and what we should all want to count as we are remembered. Matt contributed an incredible amount to HBGDki and for that we owe him a big debt to ensure success of a vision and goal he shared a great deal about.” — Shasha Jumbe
