Good data currently exists on the prevalence of stunting in LMICs. Minimal data is available on the incidence of stunting, especially age-specific incidence and severity rates. Knowing the incidence of stunting and the conditions that precede the episode will enable targeted interventions to prevent stunting.
Prepare an analysis plan to describe the epidemiology of stunting (HAZ < −2) from birth to age 24 months.
Part of the strategy for the nutrition team is to develop preventive interventions for stunting. Stunting is a major problem in LMICs, but most interventions currently are focused on treating already existing cases and not preventing new ones.
